Miss Andrew’s One Word Learn! Is a brilliant and effective way of getting secondary students to learn new vocabulary regularly. The PowerPoint is colourful and funky!
The idea is to introduce 1 new word at the start of each English lesson (could also be used as a house or extra-curricular activity). You would spend about 7-10 minutes, start to finish on this. Workbook included in this download.
For each word there are 4 slides:
Title slide: Introduces the word
Definition slide: Gives definition of the word from Oxford Dictionary
Example slide: Two sentences showing the context in which you could use the word in
Activity slide: A wide range of English activities to complete using your new words; such as synonyms, antonyms, sentences, word search, similes, metaphors etc.
There are 10 words included in this PowerPoint and 41 slides in total.
Our whole school use it and the progress and feedback has been extremely positive!
I aim to upload a new PowerPoint every 2 weeks. Please let me know if there are any words you’d like to see!
Hope you like it!:) ON SALE FOR THE FIRST WEEK!
A great way of teaching students how fundraising makes a difference with this big cheque! I designed and made this for when our primary students did their business enterprise challenge; where they raised over £200 for the local hospital!
I put our school logo on the top right-hand corner, I have left a space for you to edit whatever you like in.
Could also be used for maths lessons!
To print: either paper/card and laminate to be able to re-use. I also thought 12 pages was too long so have not used the last 2 pages of the banner; you can either make it bigger or not print the last two pages.
Hope you like it:)

Fun and engaging interactive word quiz. Great for English as a starter or Form Time.
PowerPoint is made up of 53 slides. Grid with different categories ie. antonyms, parts of speech, analogy, synonyms and root words in the titles and then points down the column ie. 5pts, 10 pts, 15 pts, 20 pts, 25pts, each person/group choose their category and the points they want to try and earn (higher the points, harder the question), you then click on the points and it takes yo to the question, if they get it right they score those amounts of points, you then hover over the house picture and it takes you back to the title for the next person/group.
Amazing resource to have - includes everything from antonyms, verbs, adverbs, nouns and adjectives.
